Fastest Desktop Processor

Calling it the most advanced desktop processor ever,Intel has rolled out the first member of the Nehalem microarchitecture family -the core i7.The core i7 processor speeds video editing, immersive games and other popular Internet and computer activities by upto 40 percent without increasing power consumption. It holds a new record of 117 for the SPECint-base-rate2006 benchmark test that measures the performace of a processor. This is said to be the first time ever for any single processor to exceed a source of 100 points.
The turbo boost technology accelerates performance to match a computer user'sneed and workloads.Through an on-die power control unit and new 'power gate' transistor based on Intel's advance 45nm,high-k metal gate manufacturing process,it automatically adjust the clock speed of one or more of the four individual processing cores for single-and multithreaded applications to boost performance, without increasing power consumption.
